ity control. Others fear that even minor adverse effects of abortion on women’s health or on the outcome of later pregnancies might be cumulative with multiple abortions. In this article, we describe the rate of and trends in repeat abortion in Canada from 1975 to 1993, and we relate these data to selected characteristics of Canadian women who obtained repeat abortions. Additionally, although the Canadian data have a level of completeness and detail not available in most other countries, we compare the Canadian experience with that of other industrialized countries.
